It's often the case you find your ideal venue but there is an issue with the numbers. At the Rectory we are no strangers of the dilema where the guest list is over or under the maximum and minimum venue numbers. Panic not as we may just have the solution for you. In terms of a party being between 120 & 150 we have dealt with this scenario regularly in the past. We usually find there is at least a 10 - 15% drop in numbers to begin with. This is usually down to other family commitments such as weddings, pregnancies etc., illness, travel, work obligations, etc. Typically you are more likely to get your numbers to work if your guest list is in the 120 region. The idea is to have 2 lists. Should anyone from the first list drop out you can invite the 2nd listing guests. If there are children or young teens as part of the group they are usually chosen to be in the second list. Its a unique and different way of doing things we agree but it has proved extremely successful. Often we find the full numbers arrive for the drinks reception where the hosts organise a meal for the extra numbers in perhaps the Marine restaurant down the road and have guests return for the evening speeches and music. www.themarine.ie. This is becoming more popular as a resolution to numbers that are over our limit. We have had a number of parties opt for this for 2009. With the marquee in place from April 2010 it could otherwise be a possibilty of using this space if necessary. This will be done on an individual basis. While we don't encourage the use of this space for dining it can be a possibility. As we are conscious of our other parties and bookings it is important to discuss this option upon booking. Should your numbers be too small for the venue minimum numbers of 75 on a weekend perhaps you may consider a weekday or off peak time of year for your party as minimum numbers are lower. (E.g. weekday minimums 45. Check terms) Sometimes you can get what you want. You just have to think differently.... think The Rectory...... |
