Legislation passed in Ireland now grants the opportunity for same sex couples to rights and responsibilities comparable to civil marriage under the Civil Partnership Act. There is a three month waiting period for all civil ceremonies in Ireland. It is now possible to hold these ceremonies at the Rectory since legislation was passed in January 2011. As a regulation of the HSE department in Ireland you can only hold these ceremonies inside a permananent structure so tents and marquees etc. do not seem possible. As it is not possible to perform these in your own home or private dwelling the Rectory is the next best thing. We can cater for these in the blue or red room depending on your numbers. Both rooms overlook the Rectory lawn and Glandore Harbour. We have also held a ceremony indoor at our stairway as another option.

Appendix 3 - Conditions to be attached to Grants of Approval for a Civil Ceremony
There are restrictions about what days of the week civil Partnership ceremonies call be held as the HSE are public servants they would not work on weekends. If you really want a ceremony and reception on a Saturday then the alternate option is first have the legal ceremony performed in the registry office during the week and then hold a humanist ceremony or blessing on the weekend. If this is the case you are then free to hold the ceremony on the lawn.
For those who are looking for blessings on the Rectory lawn this can be catered (This is weather dependent but the alternative can be made to hold this inside) We have recommended numbers for this so please enquire.
We advise if you have the civil ceremony far away e.g. Cork Registry Office, or a distance greater than 1 hrs drive to have your ceremony at 12-12.30pm to cater for guests who will need to check into accommodation in the area after the ceremony so they are not rushed. For a church ceremony wee would recommend this to be 12 noon due to the length of the ceremony.
